TENNESSEE TITAN’S ALTERRAUN VERNER TEAMS UP WITH BRITTICARES INTERNATIONAL TO GRANT TWO CHILDREN SUFFERING FROM LIFE-THREATENING ILLNESSES, ‘IMAGINE ME’ BEDROOM MAKEOVERS. – Suffering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, two Nashville children will get the bedroom makeovers of their dreams. Through BrittiCares International’s ‘Imagine Me’ Bedroom Makeovers, the pair will get the opportunity to experience their most needed life changes costumed-made by their imagination.

BrittiCares International has teamed up with Tennessee Titan’s Corner Back Alterraun Verner and several other teammates to work together, December 27, 2013 through January 1, 2014, to provide a space of hope, happiness and emotional healing for the children by providing a dream room with a theme of their choice. Designer Shirell Henderson says “Each room she designs and decorates, her Angel Brittiana is right by her side smiling down from Heaven, knowing another smile will be created through BrittiCares ‘Imagine Me’ programs”.

CHILDHOOD CANCER FACTS

Cancer is the second leading cause of death among children between ages 1 to 14 years in the United States; accidents are the most frequent cause of death in this age group. Cancer remains the number one disease killer of America's children – more than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Asthma and Aids combined.

The most common cancers in children (aged 1 to 14 years) are leukemia (particularly acute lymphocytic leukemia), brain and other nervous system cancers, soft tissue sarcomas, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and renal (Wilms) tumors.

One in 330 children will develop cancer by age 20. Each school day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer.

Over the past 25 years, there have been significant improvements in the 5 year relative survival rate for many childhood cancers.

Although the 5 year survival rate is steadily increasing, one quarter of children will die 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
